Quality and Surveys

Quality

The Spanish Ministry of Education regularly evaluates the quality of the PhD programs in Spain according to indicators such as quality of scientific works derived from PhD thesis, quality of the professors involved in the program, international collaboration and student mobilities, number of thesis, etc. The PhD Programs that pass these quality tests are awarded a "Mention of Quallity", which expresses recognition of the outstanding scientific, technical and educational qualities of selected doctoral programs from Spanish universities, with the aim of being an international benchmark for performance and results. This PhD Program in Electronic Engineering has consecutively been awarded the Mention of Quality MCD2004-00336 (years 2004, 2005, 2006), Mention of Quality MCD2007-00147 (years 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010) and Mention of Excellence MEE2011-0690 (years 2011, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014).

Besides these quality benchmarks, the PhD program must pass a rigurous Verification process before it is officially approved. This Program passed successfully such Verification in July 2009 (RD 1393/2007) and in July 2013 (RD 99/2011).

Surveys

The Doctoral Schools are the responsibles of the evaluation of the doctoral studies with the aim of a continuous improvement and increase in the quality level of the same. With this purpose, the Doctoral Schools of the participating institutions use indicators of the results achieved by each doctoral program and promote actions to obtain additional information, such as enquires to the students enrolled in the doctoral programs. The UPC Central Services (Gabinet de Planificació, Avaluació i Qualitat) publishes yearly the information and results of these evaluations and makes it available to all the students enrolled in the program.

The Doctoral School at UPC maintains a page with indicators and statistical data, including the results of doctoral students surveys.

Also, you can check the Doctoral School Quality page (in catalan) for a general overview of quality processes.
