Admission requirements
Candidates to be admitted to this PhD Program must fall in one of the following cases:- Being in possession of an official Spanish degrees of Grado and Master.
- Holders of an official degree issued by a university in Spain or any other country in the EHEA (European Higher Education Area) which, pursuant to the provisions of Article 16 of Royal Decree 1393/2007, of 29 October, qualifies the holder for admission to a master’s degree, provided they have also completed a minimum of 300 ECTS credits on an official university degree, of which at least 60 must be at the master’s degree level.
- Holders of an official Spanish bachelor’s degree which, in accordance with EU regulations, carries at least 300 ECTS credits. Holder of degrees of this kind must complete the bridging courses specified in Article 7.2 of Royal Decree 99/2011, unless the curriculum of the degree course in question included research training credits equivalent in value to those which would be earned on a master’s degree.
- Holders of a degree issued under a foreign education system. In these cases, homologation is not required but the university that awarded the degree must verify that it certifies a level of training equivalent to an official Spanish master’s degree and qualifies the holder for admission to doctoral studies in the country where it was issued. Admission on this basis does not imply homologation of the foreign degree or its recognition for any purpose other than admission to doctoral studies.
- Being in possession of another Spanish title of doctor.
In addition to the conditions related to the degree that enables acces to the doctorate, candidates for admission to this Program must meet the following requirements:
- Ability to communicate fluently, in writing and orally, using English language, proven either through personal interview, or by means of official academic certificates (Cambridge, TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, EOI).
- Having a professor of the Program who values positively the skills and motivation of the candidate, and who accepts to act as a tutor who advices on the start of a PhD in one of the thematic areas of the Programme. The candidate may contact the Program management for assistance or advice in this step.
Admission procedure
For students who want to enroll in the PhD Program at UPC, the entire process is done online through the website https://preinscripcio.upc.edu/. Make sure to select 'Electronic Engineering' in the list of doctoral degrees.
Follow the steps in the Quick Start Guide to fill your request. Make sure you complete the application with these items:
- Write a motivation letter expressing your topic of interest. There, state the name of the professor you already contacted to be your tutor.
- Attach a Currículum Vitae;
- Attach a scanned copy of your passport or personal ID;
- Attach a scanned copy of your university degrees;
- Attach a scanned copy of official academic records - qualifications certificates;
- Attach a Letter from the home university stating that the qualifications obtained by the student entitle to apply for admission to a doctoral degree in that country (only for Master degrees out of the EEES system).
- Attach an English language certificate (if any).
Make sure to complete all the items. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
