Abstract:

This thesis presents the characterization of organic semiconductors on their optical properties, morphological and structural, in order to design and manufacture organic photovoltaic cells with them.

The organic semiconductors studied are low molecular weight and polymer ones. In the first case this work present studies on copper phthalocyanine (CuPc), N ', N-ditridecylperylene-3 ,4,9,10-tetra-carboxylic diimide (PTCDI-C13) and TTM, [4 - (N -carbazolyl) -2.6-dichlorophenyl] bis (2,4,6-trichlorophenyl) methyl) (CZTTM). In the second case Poly (3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and N-type semiconductor derivative of C60, 1 - (3-methoxycarbonyl) propyl-1-phenyl [6.6] C61 (PCBM) were studied.
This work can be divided into three parts:

• Presents a new combination of organic semiconductors that show an alternative organic solar cells: CuPc and PTCDI-C13. It was obtained a solar cell with pin structure: ITO / CuPc / CuPc: PTCDI-C13 / PTCDI-C13 / BCP / Al with an efficiency of 0.89%. Before the ITO / CuPc interface was optimized, via deposition of the organic layer by high vacuum sublimation with a variable substrate temperature.

• We study the relationship between morphological, structural and optical thin layer of P3HT: PCBM and related photovoltaic cells. It shows a correlation between the photovoltaic parameters and thermal treatments usually uses onto this cell in the literature.

• An organic semiconductor is proposed, so far not used in photovoltaics, as an active part in an organic cell: the CZTTM. Early studies can provide a photovoltaic cell with 0.016% efficiency. Solar cell with CZTTM needs thermal treatment for good performance. Correlation between glass transition temperature of CZTTM and thermal treatments temperature is presented.
